College Week

It has been college week at the kids school all week.  Kayley has decided she will be attending SMU someday, and Colby says he is going to play for the Longhorns because they get to be on TV.  I mean we have to keep our priorities straight and all. HA.  They were very excited about today because they got to wear a shirt that represented the school they each love.  Kayley got the cutest SMU dress, and Colby decided to wear his Colt McCoy #12 jersey.

The Real Grandparents' Lunch

The kids were so excited to have Nanny and Pa come eat lunch with them for the second week in a row.  Although I am sure Colby now thinks that this can be an every week thing and Kayley just knows better than to think that.  Nanny and Pa are always a huge hit at these lunches because they like to involve all the kids.  Nanny makes friends everywhere she goes, and all the kids think she is a hoot.  Nanny took pictures of my kids, and then they wanted pictures of all their friends.  One of Colby's friends said he didn't have any grandparents to come have lunch with him, so of course Nanny said that he could just pretend that she was there to have lunch with him too.  That is Nanny for you, never likes to see a kid left out.

Here is Nanny and Pa with Kayley.

Nanny and Pa always make this week special for my kids, and they love it!  Thanks again Nanny and Pa for loving these precious ones so much, and sitting through 2 elementary school lunches.  You are AWESOME!!!!

Grandparent's Day Lunch, NOT!

Okay so I thought last week at the kids' school was grandparent's lunch week.  My parents have gone every year since Kayley started school, and this year was going to be her last and Colby's first.  We asked them to go and the kids arranged with them what they would like to have for lunch.  I did not send lunch with the kids on this particular day.  Nanny and Pa got up and moving quite early for them so that they had plenty of time to get lunch and get to the school before Colby's lunch at 10:48.  They arrived at school and Nanny wondered why there was not all the commotion that there had been in the past, so she went into the office to find out.  Well this is where she found out that next week was going to be lunch with the grandparents.  OMG!!  Well the awesome grandparents that they are they took Colby the lunch they bought him, and gave Kayley money to buy her lunch because you see Kayley doesn't eat until 12:48.  Yes that is right Nanny and Pa were going to come have lunch with Colby, leave and get Kayley the lunch she requested, and then come have lunch with her.  So needless to say they have graciously agreed to come back next week to do lunch, and of course my kids are excited.

Sorry Nanny and Pa!  Thanks for being so understanding and making our kids feel so loved.

Fashion Show

Okay Nanny this post is just for you as I have promised all week.  Here is a fashion show of the kids for the 1st week of school.

This is Tuesday morning before school.  Look at the camera Colby.
This is them before school on Wednesday.  Aren't they precious?
This is before school on Thursday.  Kayley told me she was dressed like Jennifer Garner as the 13 year-old in the movie "13 Going on 30".
Here they are before school on Friday.  They are both glad it is Friday and they get a little break.
Both the kids are loving school.  Colby is making lots of new friends, and Kayley just keeps getting older and making new friends.  Today I let Kayley walk Colby into school without me.  I think Colby was a little happy about it, but also seemed to be a little apprehensive.  He kept telling me bye and he loved me, and once the door was shut he kept looking back and waving.  He tries so hard to be a big boy because he really does want to be one, but he loves being with his mom too.  Kayley, I think was just glad I didn't walk in with her (BooHooBooHoo).  I know with all my heart that she loves me because she tells me and she shows me, but she is growing up.  I am so glad that my kids are pretty independent  and don't need me all the time for their comfort.  Like Nanny says, I am doing something right if my kids are always happy with or without me.  I guess that is a point for me in the "Mommy" category.  I just have to say "Boy, I LOVE THESE KIDS", they make my world go round and my days happier!!!

1st Day of School

Well the morning started off wonderfully.  Both kids got up, made their beds, ate a healthy breakfast, brush their teeth, and got dressed for the day.  Kayley is now in 6th grade and thinks she is so big.  Colby started kindergarten this year.  Today was officially the first day of being a stay-at-home mom that there were no kids to stay-at-home with.  Okay, so what is my purpose now?  I feel like my job now is to wait for them to get home.  I'm pretty sure there is another part of this staying at home job but I just can't remember what it is.  Oh yea, cleaning house, cooking, ironing, running household errands, and I guess I could focus some on my husband's needs.  We all know I just don't have it in me, and at least Andy appreciates that I love him to pieces in my own way!!!!  I need a couple of weeks to get the hang of this, and then maybe things will be normal around here.

This is Colby just before we left for the first day of school.
This is Kayley just before we left for school.
My two babies on the first day of school.
We were able to get a picture of Colby in his class, but Kayley ran off to her class by herself so we wouldn't walk with her.  Boy, did that sting my already vulnerable heart.  Plus she didn't even warn us that she didn't want us to walk with her.  I'm not sure I am okay with my little angel bug growing up.  The loneliness has definitely set in.  BooHooBooHoo!!!

Life is Changing

First things first, as you can see I am starting to blog.  Some may ask why, well my youngest starts school on Monday, and I have realized how fast time flies by.  Secondly, I have four scrapbooks for my oldest and  nothing for the little one because there was never enough time.  I can't use that as an excuse anymore so here we go.  This blog will be used to record all of our lives from this point on, and I will have to work on something for him for the first five years, and Kayley the last five years.  Hopefully I will keep it up and be able to have a place I can go to remember all the good times our family has.
